The start of the match at Strawberry Arena in Solna, Stockholm, was a difficult one for Gheorghe Hagi's Tricolors. From the very first minute, Ionuț Radu stood out with two important interventions. The Swedes took the lead: in the 20th minute, Alex Isak, who had escaped Virgil Ghiță's marking, finished after a through ball from Yasin Ayari.
In the 29th minute, an action that had not suggested much danger in the Swedes' half brought the equalizer for Hagi's Romania. Dennis Man received the ball after a cross from Rațiu and managed to get past Victor Lindelof. The end of the first half also brought the third goal: following a short corner, Radu parried a shot from Lucas Bergvall into his path. The ball then reached Gyokeres, Arsenal's striker finding the net.
After the break, Romania were caught out again. Stroud beats our goalkeeper with a shot from outside the box! The goal was disallowed after a VAR review for a handball by Isak. In the second half, the Swedes controlled the game.
Hagi's players tried to press in the final part of the match, but no major chances were created, and the goal did not come. Sweden – Romania 2-1, Hagi suffers his first defeat in his new stint.
In the other match in the fourth group of Division B, Poland and Bosnia finished without a goal being scored, 0-0, in Warsaw.
