Gică Hagi has established Romania’s squad of 23 players for the match against Sweden, scheduled for Monday at 21:45, at the National Arena, in the fourth round of the Nations League. The coach was forced to make several changes due to suspensions and injuries.
Andrei Burcă, Bogdan Racovițan, Andrei Borza and David Matei have been left out of the squad. Romania also cannot use Radu Drăgușin and Virgil Ghiță, both suspended, while Marius Marin, Louis Munteanu and Daniel Bîrligea are injured.
Goalkeepers Ionuț Radu, Otto Hindrich and Valentin Cojocaru have been called up for the match against Sweden. The defensive line consists of Andrei Rațiu, Matei Ilie, Andrei Coubiș, Lisav Eissat, Nicușor Bancu, Raul Opruț, Vladimir Screciu and Tony Strata.
In midfield are Tudor Băluță, Darius Olaru, Alexandru Cicâldău, Nicolae Stanciu, Ianis Hagi, Răzvan Marin, Cătălin Cîrjan, Olimpiu Moruțan and Vlad Dragomir. The selected forwards are Florin Tănase, Valentin Mihăilă and Dennis Man.
The probable lineup is Hindrich – Rațiu, Coubiș, Eissat, Bancu – Olaru, Screciu, Cicâldău – Ianis Hagi – Man, Tănase.
Romania has made a pointless start to the group, following defeats by Sweden, 1-2, Bosnia, 2-4, and Poland, 0-6. Sweden is unbeaten, with victories over Romania and Poland, 3-1, plus a draw in Bosnia, 1-1.
