Romania’s national team will arrive in Stockholm this evening, where on Friday, at 21:45, they will face Sweden in their opening match of the new edition of the Nations League. The match opens a busy period for the “Tricolors,” who have four matches scheduled in just ten days.
Head coach Gică Hagi has decided not to take the entire squad called up for this international window to Sweden. Nine of the 32 players will remain at the National Football Center in Mogoșoaia, where they will continue their preparations under the coordination of the technical staff.
The footballers remaining in camp are Daniel Bîrligea, Raul Opruț, David Matei, Cătălin Cîrjan, Marius Marin, Alexandru Cicâldău, Tony Strata, Bogdan Racovițan and Olimpiu Moruțan.
The decision is part of the national team staff’s strategy for managing a period with an intense schedule. The squad traveling to Sweden will prepare for Friday’s clash, while the players remaining in Mogoșoaia will train for the campaign’s upcoming matches.
Hagi will travel to Sweden with the following footballers: Ionuț Radu, Hindrich, Cojocaru – Rațiu, Drăgușin, Coubiș, M. Ilie, Ghiță, Băluță, Borza, Eissat, Bancu, Screciu, Burcă, Olaru, Dragomir, Stanciu, Mihăilă, I. Hagi, R. Marin, Tănase, Man and Louis Munteanu
