The match between Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, scheduled for Monday, September 28, at the National Arena, in the 2026/27 Nations League, will be played without spectators. The Romanian Football Federation decided not to allow children access either, citing fairness and safety requirements.
The FRF explained that access could not be reserved only for schools and academies in Bucharest and nearby areas, given that tens of thousands of children from across the country would have wanted to attend. Organizing their travel would have been difficult, especially since the match starts at 9:45 p.m., and the following day is a school day.
In addition, returning after midnight, including for groups that would have had to travel for nine or ten hours, would have involved risks related to fatigue and road safety. The FRF stated that it would not assume such responsibility.
The match will be refereed by Portugal's Luis Godinho, assisted by Pedro Martins and Pedro Almeida. The reserve referee will be Fábio Veríssimo, while Fábio Oliveira Melo and Hélder Malheiro will be in the VAR room.
It will be Romania's first official home match since Gheorghe Hagi returned to lead the national team. In his new tenure, the Tricolours drew 1-1 with Georgia and defeated Wales 2-1 in friendlies, before losing 2-1 away to Sweden.
The match will be broadcast live by Antena 1.
