Serena Williams, a champion with 23 Grand Slam singles titles, has returned to the tennis courts with a doubles victory after a four-year absence. At the age of 44, Serena played alongside Canadian Victoria Mboko in the first round at Queen's Club, where they defeated the pair consisting of American Nicole Melichar-Martinez and New Zealander Erin Routliffe, with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-2.

Serena's last match on the circuit was on September 2, 2022, when she was eliminated in the third round of the US Open by Australian Ajla Tomljanovic. This is her first appearance on the court since then, marking an emotional return for the former top player, who is also a mother of two children.
