The message sent by Lindsey Vonn after the fall she suffered on Friday in Crans-Montana: "My Olympic dream is not over as I wanted. I tried. I dreamed. I jumped. The only failure in life is not to try."

Lindsey Vonn, the famous American skier, suffered an injury to her left knee during her last downhill race before the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina.

Vonn says she does not regret trying and states that the only failure in life is not to try.

"Yesterday, my Olympic dream did not end the way I wanted. It was not a storybook ending or a fairy tale, it was simply life. I dared to dream and worked hard to make it happen. Because in alpine skiing, the difference between a strategic line and a catastrophic injury can be just 12 centimeters. I was simply 12 centimeters too tight on the starting line when my right arm got caught inside the starting gate, twisting me and causing the accident. The anterior cruciate ligament and my previous injuries had nothing to do with the accident. Unfortunately, I suffered a complex tibia fracture, which is currently stable but will require several surgeries to be properly repaired.

I tried. I dreamed. I jumped. I hope that if you retain anything from my journey, it is that you all have the courage to dare a lot. Life is too short not to take risks. Because the only failure in life is not to try. I believe in you, just as you believed in me," was the message posted by Lindsey Vonn on social media.
