The decision comes after the club was accused in May by the Premier League of breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) during the period 2020-2023. The club recorded a loss of 24 million euros greater than the permitted threshold.

The points deduction will be applied immediately, meaning that Leicester City will drop from 17th place to 20th in the Championship and is outside the relegation zone only due to goal difference.

In a statement, Leicester stated that it is "disappointed" by this decision, calling it "disproportionate."
