Leicester City has contested the English Football League's decision to deduct six points for breaching financial rules. This sanction, imposed at the beginning of the month, has placed the team in 22nd place in the Championship, sitting just above the relegation zone due to goal difference. After two consecutive defeats, Leicester has now fallen into the relegation zone, being two points away from safety.
In May, the team was charged by the Premier League for breaching profitability and sustainability rules over a three-year period leading up to the 2023-24 season. The Premier League stated that it will seek a swift resolution to the appeal before the end of this season.
