Jannik Sinner, the Italian tennis player and world number 1, suffered a huge surprise at Roland Garros, being eliminated in the second round on May 28, 2026. Sinner, a major favorite of the tournament, was defeated by the Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo, ranked 56th in the ATP, in a dramatic match that ended with a score of 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 1-6, 1-6.
Although he won the first two sets and led 5-1 in the third set, Sinner lost the initiative, dropping the next three sets. In the previous round, Sinner had qualified without problems, defeating the Frenchman Clement Tabur.
At 24 years old, Sinner aimed to win in Paris the only Grand Slam title that eludes him, considering the absence of the defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz, due to an injury. The news is being updated.
