WTA 115th-ranked Irina Begu made it through to the second round at Wimbledon despite a poor second set, defeating Kaja Juvan (ranked 240th WTA) in the deciding set. The two players have met once before, in 2019, when Begu won. In her next match, Begu will play Daria Kasatkina (18th WTA). Other Romanian players, such as Jaqueline Cristian and Sorana Cîrstea, have scheduled matches, while Anca Todoni and Gabriela Ruse have been eliminated.
