Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, convened a meeting of the organization's officials in Rabat, following the failure of the initiative to create FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a subsidiary aimed at managing the commercial aspects of the World Cup final tournament. After listening to opinions, Infantino decided to abandon the plan, acknowledging that it had generated divisions that do not serve the organization's interest. The project was rejected by UEFA and CONCACAF, the Confederation of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Arsene Wenger, globally responsible for football development within FIFA, and Mattias Grafstrom, FIFA's Secretary General, expressed their opposition to Infantino's initiative.
This situation was described by Grafstrom as "a series of sad and regrettable events." The meeting will address the impact of this crisis on FIFA's future and its relationships with national federations.
