FIFA will allow Council members to consult key documents relating to “FIFA Forward Enterprise” (FFE), the plan to sell certain World Cup rights valued at $20 billion and abandoned this summer. The information was conveyed on Monday by a source cited by Reuters.
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom invited Council members to express their interest in consulting the documents at the organization’s headquarters in Zurich, under specific conditions. The measure was announced on the day the deadline set by UEFA expired for FIFA to respond to more than 100 questions about Gianni Infantino’s leadership, the FFE project and the FIFA Peace Award.
UEFA and several European federations called for reforms following the failure of the plan, which sparked negative reactions and put pressure on the FIFA president. The organization cited the workload, preparations for an extraordinary congress on November 23 and legal restrictions related to ongoing proceedings in the United States.
