The Romanian national football team is preparing for two important matches, in Georgia on June 2 and at home against Wales on June 6. The recently appointed coach Gheorghe Hagi stated that his first objective was to evaluate the players and the team. Hagi decided to call up three players for each position, including young players to bring energy and enthusiasm. His main objective is to please the supporters and qualify the team for the European tournament. The squad for the matches will be announced soon, and Hagi mentioned that he will use two different teams for the two matches.
"I decided to take three players for each position. Compared to the other coaches, I am new. They need to get to know me. The more, the better; it’s the first contact with them. I wanted as many players as possible to get to know me and my staff and to see how we think. I believe we will do a very good job. I am convinced that we can change things. Our only objective is to please the supporters. We will announce the squad the day after tomorrow, but not in its entirety. Excluding the teams that have playoffs. I have taken 33 players because in the first match, against Georgia, some will play and in the one against Wales, others will play; we have two teams. It’s good to use all the players. I like to use all the players I take because there are no reserves in the national team. I will use all of them as much as I can. I hope we do a very good job," said Hagi.
