Gabriela Ruse managed to qualify for the second round of the WTA qualifiers in Rome, after a convincing victory against the French player Oceane Dodin, with a score of 6-1, 6-3, in a match that lasted only 55 minutes. The Romanian player, ranked 68th in the world, will face Sinja Kraus, ranked 103rd in the WTA, in the next round. Ruse will receive a sum of 12,045 euros and 20 points in the WTA singles ranking for this performance.

In contrast, Irina Begu, at the age of 35, was eliminated in the opening round by Anastasia Potapova, ranked 38th in the world, with a score of 6-1, 7-5. Begu will be rewarded with a check of 6,330 euros and two WTA points. Additionally, Sorana Cîrstea and Jaqueline Cristian have been directly accepted into the main singles draw at Foro Italico.
