The world runner-up France is the new leader of the FIFA ranking, after the Spanish national team, the reigning European champion, only managed a draw against Egypt (score 0-0) on Tuesday evening, as part of the preparations for this summer's World Cup.
France, which defeated Brazil (2-1) and Colombia (3-1) in the international window at the end of March, has accumulated 1,877.32 points and has risen from third place to the top position in the world ranking established by the International Football Federation, surpassing Spain, which is now in second place with 1,876.40 points. The reigning world champion, Argentina, has dropped one place and is now in third position.
The Romanian national team has dropped five places in the world ranking, after suffering defeats against Turkey (0-1) and Slovakia (0-2), now sitting at 56th place. Romania is just one place away from its lowest ranking in history (57), recorded last on September 5, 2012.
