The Cape Verde national team achieved yet another spectacular result at the World Cup, after drawing with Uruguay, with a score of 2-2, on Monday, in Group H of the World Cup. Cape Verde opened the scoring in the 21st minute, through Kevin, who scored the first goal for the national team in World Cup history. Varela scored the second goal for the team in the 61st minute. The goals for Uruguay were scored by Araujo (46) and Canobbio (45+6).

Egypt managed to turn the tide of the match and defeat New Zealand 3-1 at BC Place in Vancouver, with the "Pharaohs" thus achieving their first victory at the FIFA World Cup and being very close to the knockout stage.
