David Popovici won gold in the 100-meter freestyle at the European Under 23 European Athletics Championships, setting a new European record with a time of 46.71 seconds.

David Popovici dominated the 100m freestyle final at the European Under 23 Championships in Samorin, winning gold with an impressive time of 46.71 seconds, setting a new European record. It was his second gold at the competition, having also won the 200m freestyle. Patrick Dinu, the other Romanian in the final, came 7th. Although there was talk of Popovici possibly taking part in the 1500m freestyle relay, it will not happen for him.
