The swimmer David Popovici, the rowers Magdalena Rusu and Simona Radiș have been nominated in the survey 'The best 10 athletes in the Balkans in 2025', conducted by the Bulgarian agency BTA.

David Popovici won two world titles in the 100 and 200 m freestyle, while Magdalena Rusu and Simona Radiș won the world and European gold in women's double sculls, plus the world title in the 8+1 mixed category. The weightlifter Mihaela Cambei, Olympic silver medalist, won one gold and two silver medals at the World Championships, as well as three gold medals at the European Championships. The gymnast Ana Bărbosu won bronze on the floor at the 2025 Olympics and the European title on the same apparatus. The wrestler Andreea Ana, athlete Andrei Rareș Toader, shooter Laura Ilie, and tennis player Sorana Cîrstea are also on the nomination list, highlighting the remarkable performances of Romanian athletes in 2025.
