The 2026 World Cup, organized in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, has sparked controversy due to the high ticket prices, criticized by fans and supporters' associations. Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, explained that these costs are justified by the extremely high demand, with 150 million ticket requests received. He emphasized that FIFA generates its revenue mainly from this competition, needing funds to support its activities in the next four years. During the last phase of ticket sales, prices for the final scheduled for July 19 reached several thousand euros. An investigation revealed exorbitant expenses for Canada, estimating costs between 1 and 2 billion dollars for hosting thirteen matches. FIFA's strict requirements led to the city of Montreal withdrawing from hosting the matches due to funding issues. In contrast, UEFA announced an affordable ticket policy for EURO 2028, with prices starting from 35 dollars. The 2026 World Cup will take place between June 11 and July 19.
