Carlos Alcaraz, the world number 2 and champion at the Australian Open, announced on Friday that he is withdrawing from the Roland Garros and the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament in Rome due to an injury to his right wrist. After the results of the tests conducted, Alcaraz decided to be cautious and wait for the injury's progress to determine the timing of his return to the court. The Spaniard emphasized that he does not want to rush his recovery, considering the importance of his long-term career.
His absence from Roland Garros, where he won the last two editions, could benefit his rival Jannik Sinner, who regained the world number one spot after his victory in Monte Carlo. Alcaraz stated that he prefers to fully recover rather than risk aggravating the injury.
