Carlos Alcaraz, the number 2 seed, had a tough match in the second round of the US Open, defeating the Portuguese Jaime Faria, ranked 72nd in the ATP, with a score of 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2. The match lasted two hours and 41 minutes.

Faria started better, winning the first set 6-4. However, Alcaraz's response was prompt, winning the second set without dropping a game. The Spaniard then took control, winning the third and fourth sets 6-3 and 6-2.

This marks Alcaraz's return to singles competition after a 139-day break due to an injury. Carlos Alcaraz will play in the third round against the Chinese Wu Yibing.
