Faria started better, winning the first set 6-4. However, Alcaraz's response was prompt, winning the second set without dropping a game. The Spaniard then took control, winning the third and fourth sets 6-3 and 6-2.
This marks Alcaraz's return to singles competition after a 139-day break due to an injury. Carlos Alcaraz will play in the third round against the Chinese Wu Yibing.
