Carlos Alcaraz reached the Vienna Open final for the first time after defeating Daniil Medvedev on Saturday, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), in an indoor semifinal.
The victory gives the Spaniard the 37th final of his career and his fifth this year. Alcaraz has also extended his winning streak to 25 consecutive victories in ATP 500 tournaments.
“It is a wonderful feeling to beat a player like Daniil on an indoor court, after the winning streak he had. He had many wins in a row and a lot of confidence, and I managed to beat him, which is something special,” Alcaraz said after the match.
In the final scheduled for Sunday, Alcaraz will face the winner of the semifinal between top seed Alexander Zverev and Australian Alex de Minaur.
