On October 6, 2025, the Orhei City Hall announced the identification of an outbreak of African Swine Fever in the village of Ciocălteni, where a pig carcass and animals with specific symptoms were discovered. Laboratory tests confirmed the ASF virus. Restrictions were imposed for 30 days, including a ban on the movement of pigs and their sale. Authorities are asking the population to report suspected cases and to comply with sanitary-veterinary measures.
