Vlad Gheorghe, former MEP and independent candidate for the Bucharest City Hall, will announce on December 2 that he is withdrawing from the competition. G4Media sources indicate that he will express his support for Ciprian Ciucu, the PNL candidate. Gheorghe, a close associate of President Nicușor Dan, was active in the electoral campaign and was part of the USR volunteer team.

With a degree in Law and a master's in Tax Law, he entered politics in 2015 and reached the European Parliament on the USR PLUS lists. After resigning from USR in 2024, he tried to obtain a new mandate as an MEP, but was unsuccessful. In the context of the elections for the General City Hall, recent polls show a tight competition among candidates, with Ciprian Ciucu in the lead.
