Vlad Gheorghe, leader of the DREPT party and former USR MEP, said he is interested in an independent candidacy for the mayoralty of the capital, believing that it would benefit Bucharest. He rejects the idea of a single candidate of the ruling coalition, pointing out that Romanians have had negative reactions to such candidacies. Gheorghe believes that the mayoralty should not be negotiated within the coalition, but should remain a separate issue in order to avoid complications in the formation of the government. Former USR president Cătălin Drulă is also considering a candidacy, but has not decided yet.
