Former MEP Vlad Gheorghe launched on Tuesday the campaign for the Capital City Hall, with the slogan "One Bucharest, one mayor, Vlad Gheorghe." He proposes the abolition of the sectors of Bucharest and Ilfov County, arguing that the current structure hinders the development of the city. Gheorghe, born and raised in Bucharest, highlighted the pollution and traffic problems that the capital faces, mentioning that the sectors generate an annual budget surplus, while Bucharest remains in financial difficulty. His first action as mayor would be to organize a mandatory referendum to implement these changes.
