Virgil Popescu accuses AUR of attacking Romanian institutions and not condemning Russia's aggression/ AUR voted against the laws to combat Russian drones.

PNL MEP Virgil Popescu criticized the AUR party, led by George Simion, for its attacks on Romanian state institutions, instead of condemning Russia's aggression. In a Facebook post, Popescu mentioned that AUR voted against legislative projects aimed at combating aerial threats, in the context of a Russian drone recently entering Romanian airspace.

He emphasized that, instead of condemning Russia, AUR found culprits in Romania, including in the Army and Government. Popescu highlighted the lack of a response from AUR to the Russian aggression and asked whether George Simion would recognize the true culprit, Putin.

Additionally, AUR reacted to the drone incident, acknowledging the success of the military, but emphasizing Romania's strategic vulnerability. General Gheorghita Vlad confirmed that the downed drone was of Russian manufacture, and another drone was subsequently intercepted in national airspace.
