Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta called for the removal of USR from the Government, citing the party's failure in the elections for the Capital City Mayor, where Cătălin Drulă obtained only 13% of the votes. Ponta believes that USR, despite holding important ministries, does not have the support of the Romanian people, having a national percentage of 10%. He acknowledged that he would have liked Daniel Băluță to win, but he appreciated that Ciprian Ciucu will not be a bad mayor.
Ponta emphasized that USR, currently in fourth place in voter preferences, cannot remain in power and urged PSD and PNL to make a courageous decision regarding the continuation of USR in the coalition. According to exit polls, Ciprian Ciucu obtained approximately 32% of the votes, while Băluță had 26%, and Anca Alexandrescu 21%.
