Gigel Știrbu, vice president of PNL, publicly asked Cătălin Drulă, the USR candidate for the Capital City Mayor, to withdraw from the race. He emphasized that Drulă's chances of winning are "equal to zero" and warned that a competition between him and Ciprian Ciucu, the PNL candidate, could risk Bucharest falling into the hands of "clans or extremists."
Știrbu argued that Drulă's withdrawal would be a gesture of responsibility and political maturity, contributing to the unification of the anti-PSD and AUR vote. He mentioned that Bucharest needs a common vision and leaders who prioritize the community's interest. According to a recent poll, Drulă is in fourth place in the electorate's preferences, behind the PNL and PSD candidates.
