The Vice President of the European Parliament, Victor Negrescu (PSD), stated that he will take all necessary measures to ensure that Romania does not lose funds from the Resilience Mechanism, in the context of the milestone regarding judges' pensions. He warned that a decision of unconstitutionality from the Constitutional Court (CCR) could lead to the temporary suspension of these amounts. Negrescu emphasized that, in the case of a second refusal from the CCR, the functioning of the governing coalition should be debated. He also mentioned that the reform of special pensions is a priority and highlighted the government's responsibility to implement the law. The recently adopted bill establishes new retirement conditions for judges, including the minimum retirement age and the required seniority. The CCR's decision is expected on December 28.
