Social-democrat MEP Victor Negrescu requested clear explanations from the Romanian authorities on Friday, following the incident in which a Russian military drone crashed into an apartment building in Galați, injuring two Romanians. Negrescu firmly condemned the illegal attacks by the Russian Federation and emphasized that the incident demonstrates the real risks faced by Romanian citizens.

He called for concrete protection measures for communities at the border of the European Union, including a European monitoring and rapid response mechanism, direct support for the affected areas, and a stronger European presence in the Black Sea region. Negrescu emphasized that the safety of Romanian citizens is a shared European responsibility and called for the inclusion of this incident on the European Parliament's agenda to accelerate the necessary actions. He reaffirmed his commitment to continue insisting on the protection of citizens and European coordination in the face of threats.
