Ștefan Pălărie, the leader of the USR senators, stated that the decision regarding the elections for the Bucharest City Hall must be made quickly and transparently, emphasizing that the mayor should be elected by the Bucharest residents, not imposed by the parties. He criticizes the PSD's proposal to support a single candidate, recalling the previous failures of this strategy.

Pălărie asserts that an interim period until 2028 is not a viable solution and that USR wants a right-wing candidate to avoid a return to the problematic management of funds from the time of former mayor Gabriela Firea. The decision on the elections is blocked in the coalition, with PSD threatening to withdraw from the government if PNL and USR collaborate for a common candidate.
