The USR party announced the proposal of Roxana Rizoiu, an expert in human rights, for the position of Ombudsman, in the context of political negotiations for the formation of the Bolojan Government. The mandate of the former Ombudsman, Renate Weber, expired in June 2024, but no replacement has been appointed, so she remains in office.

Roxana Rizoiu has significant international experience, being a lawyer and trainer in the field of human rights, without having been a member of any political party. Dominic Fritz, the leader of USR, emphasized that the Ombudsman must be a voice for the citizens, and Rizoiu has the integrity and competence necessary to defend their rights. Rizoiu has worked at the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having two mandates as Government Agent at the ECHR. She has also been a trainer at the National Institute of Magistracy and is currently the director of a law firm, getting involved in the development of artificial intelligence solutions for legal professionals.
