Csoma Botond, the leader of the UDMR deputies, stated on Sunday, at Digi 24, that UDMR representatives believed they would have consultations after Eugen Tomac submitted his mandate. He explained that their hope was that the parties that formed the former coalition would soften their political positions, considering that Tomac failed to gather a majority.

Botond mentioned that, following the appointment of Nicușor Dan, UDMR needs to decide what actions to undertake. Botond emphasized that Nicușor Dan appointed Tomac because the parties did not come up with a clear proposal during the consultations. He also avoided commenting on whether the appointment without consultations violates the Constitution, highlighting the need to have a functional government in Romania.
