In an intervention on Antena 3 CNN, Eugen Tomac clarified that the discussion held on the sidelines of the European Council was strictly dedicated to the topics on the European agenda, without including internal political negotiations or the formation of the Government.

Eugen Tomac added that the presence of MEPs, such as Rareș Bogdan and Victor Negrescu, was linked to the previous and subsequent meetings of the president with the leaders of the European political groups. Tomac emphasized that time was limited and that the photograph taken during the discussions took place in a public space, not being an official meeting.

He also mentioned that the president reaffirmed Romania's commitment to the pro-European direction and that the mandate of the designated prime minister is to obtain parliamentary support for the proposed government.

The former designated prime minister avoided commenting on internal political scenarios, emphasizing that the final decision rests with Parliament.
