The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, stated that closing dangerous ponds, which affect the health of Romanians through contamination with heavy metals, is a higher priority than subsidizing tractors through the Rabla program. The budget for Rabla has been reduced from 600 million to 200 million lei, due to budget constraints and the existing deficit. Buzoianu emphasized that many projects from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) have had low implementation rates, and the funds for these have been lost. She highlighted that in Romania, there are over 200 ponds, of which several dozen are extremely dangerous, and the lack of funds to close them has been a problem ignored by politicians.
