The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, had a meeting in Brussels on Tuesday with the Commissioner for the Environment, Jessika Roswall, to address the infringement procedures that Romania is facing. Buzoianu acknowledged that the ministry she leads is dealing with the most issues of this kind, many of which have been ignored for years. Although she does not expect immediate solutions, she emphasized the importance of establishing a clear timeline of measures to prioritize the necessary actions.
In the first months of her mandate, Buzoianu has managed to make progress in resolving an infringement related to the designation of protected areas. She expressed confidence that Romania can have a strong voice at the European level in the field of environmental protection, highlighting the need for collaboration with the European Commission to achieve concrete results.
