Larry Summers, former president of Harvard University, announced that he will withdraw from public commitments after his emails with Jeffrey Epstein were made public.

His emails with Epstein, published by Congress, show that the two had a communication relationship up until a day before Epstein's arrest in 2019. Larry Summers expressed regret and stated that he also takes responsibility for his decisions. He also mentioned that he will continue to fulfill his teaching obligations but will withdraw from public life to rebuild trust.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced an investigation into Epstein's relationships with political figures, including former President Bill Clinton. Summers was associated with the Center for American Progress but was announced to no longer be affiliated with it. The emails reveal frequent meetings between Summers and Epstein, and Summers had critical opinions about Donald Trump, mentioning that it would be better to distance himself from him.
