Tucker Carlson claims that Donald Trump directly ordered the cover-up of the Epstein files

Donald Trump allegedly directly ordered his administration to cover up millions of documents from investigations into Jeffrey Epstein, former ally Tucker Carlson claims. The statement was made in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine and reported by The Independent.

Carlson said he asked the president, in the summer of 2025, to release all documents related to Epstein, the sex offender who died in prison in 2019. According to the commentator, Trump allegedly told him that the files were part of a conspiracy against him, comparable to the “Russiagate” investigation. When asked which decision had come directly from the president, Carlson replied that it concerned an order to “cover everything up.”

The claims come amid a political and legal confrontation over the release of the Epstein files. After prolonged pressure from Congress, Trump signed a law on document transparency at the end of last year.

Trump’s name appears on thousands of pages, but the president has not been accused of criminal conduct in connection with Epstein and denies any wrongdoing. The White House says Trump has been exonerated and has done more than his predecessors for the victims. Carlson has since distanced himself from the president, criticizing his positions on the war in Iran.
