Lia Olguța Vasilescu responds to the accusations of the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, regarding the controversial block in Craiova

The mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu, reacted to the statements made by the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, regarding a 9-story building constructed near an ammunition depot, which would affect the radar at Cârcea.

Vasilescu emphasized that there are 8 kilometers between the building and the radar, and the imaginary line between the two points passes through the middle of the Ford factory's office building. She mentioned that the building is part of a residential complex with many other 10-story buildings, including a neighborhood built on Ministry of National Defense land. Vasilescu contested Miruță's statements, saying that the local authority acted according to the approvals received. She also raised questions about the existence of ammunition depots in populated areas, suggesting that they should be relocated for the safety of citizens. The mayor also criticized the idea that the building would affect the radar, mentioning that many other constructions in the area would be similarly affected.
