Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna has announced that the Bolojan Government is discussing an increase in property taxes by up to 70%. This measure, part of the second package of tax reforms, aims to strengthen local budgets and the financial independence of municipalities. Analyses by the European Commission and the finance ministry revealed a lack of regular tax increases in many municipalities. The measures will be adopted by parliamentary accountability and will take effect from January 1, 2026.
