Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of the Capital, announced the intensification of controls carried out by the Local Police to sanction carriers operating without authorization in Bucharest. The checks focus on heavy vehicles, with traffic restrictions in zones A and B, where the minimum tonnage is 5 tons. In the last three weeks, 850 vehicles have been checked, and the fines imposed totaled 545,000 lei. Ciucu emphasized that it is necessary for the penalties to exceed the value of the authorization fee to discourage non-compliance with the rules. The mayor presented a new mechanism for verifying the payment of the fee, publicly available, which allows for the rapid identification of vehicles that do not comply with the regulations. He stated that Bucharest cannot function without respect for the law and that all carriers must pay the corresponding fee.
