On Monday evening, Sorin Grindeanu, the president of PSD, addressed recent speculations regarding a possible appointment of his to the leadership position of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) at Romania TV. Grindeanu categorically rejected any association with political negotiations or proposals in this regard, stating that he does not negotiate with 'chief prosecutors' and that a competition for these positions was initiated at the beginning of the month.
He explained that the appointment of the heads of intelligence services is made through a proposal from the presidential administration, which must then be voted on in Parliament to obtain a majority. Grindeanu emphasized that, although discussions are necessary to ensure this majority, he is not on the list of proposals for the leadership of SRI, declaring: 'Excluded, excluded. Under no circumstances.'
