PSD President Sorin Grindeanu rejected on Sunday the accusations that his party had participated, together with the United States, in the dismissal of Ilie Bolojan. In a message published on Facebook, the social-democratic leader called the theory an attempt at manipulation and compared it to conspiracy theories about the flat Earth.
Grindeanu claims that Bolojan was not dismissed by the Americans, Russians, or secret groups, but by the vote of Romanians, against the backdrop of a government he considers weak. He, in turn, accused former government officials of making decisions “contrary to Romania’s interests,” citing loans through the SAFE program, the closure of certain energy capacities provided for in the PNRR, the blocking of hydroelectric plants, and positions unfavorable to Romanian farmers.
The PSD leader said that he supports the Strategic Partnership with the United States and Romania’s membership in the European Union, but called for strengthening the relationship with Washington through American investments in Romania. He criticized Oana Gheorghiu, Siegfried Mureșan, and Oana Țoiu for statements about the American administration and bilateral relations.
In conclusion, Grindeanu announced that PSD would not vote for the Government led by Siegfried Mureșan, which he considers to be built on “lies and incompetence.” The statements came after Sorin Grindeanu, George Simion, and Bogdan Ivan were accused of treason, following statements attributed to the U.S. ambassador to Greece regarding American involvement in the dismissal of the Bolojan Government.
