The Rector of the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA), Remus Pricopie, believes that the appointment of the Veștea Government cannot bring the necessary political calm and thinks that Adrian Veștea should resign.
"A few thoughts on the current political crisis:
1. I do not believe that a Veștea Government can bring the peace and political balance that Romania needs. After yesterday, the political spectrum seems more tense than it was at the time of the no-confidence motion.
2. I believe that Mr. Adrian Veștea should resign, and President Nicușor Dan should convene consultations with parliamentary parties, in the spirit and letter of the Constitution. Such a decision would contribute to de-escalating the situation and rebuilding trust.
3. At the same time, parties must accept the necessary dialogue and compromises. They have pushed confrontation very far. In this regard, the president's criticism regarding the lack of willingness to negotiate is justified.
4. Without negotiation, there is no politics. There is only confrontation. And constant confrontation does not produce stable governments, but increasingly deeper crises.
5. Romania needs an intelligent political solution, not a temporary victory of one camp over the other. Ultimately, stability and the public interest must be more important than egos and momentary calculations," wrote Remus Pricopie on Facebook on Tuesday.
