Adrian Veștea asks PNL lawmakers to vote for the Government led by Siegfried Mureșan: “PNL must take responsibility for governing the country”

Adrian Veștea, president of the Brașov County Council and former nominee for the position of prime minister, is calling on PNL lawmakers to vote for the Government led by Siegfried Mureșan, arguing that Romania urgently needs a legitimate Executive with full powers.

In a Facebook post, Veștea stated that the PNL must assume governing “with all the powers, obligations and responsibilities” only when it is convenient to do so. He argued that a Government led by a liberal prime minister would allow the party to honor its commitments to citizens and local administrations.

The message comes after, in June, Veștea’s candidacy for the position of prime minister failed to secure Parliament’s vote, in a context that generated tensions within the PNL. The liberal welcomed the fact that party leader Ilie Bolojan ultimately agreed to allow another member of the party to lead the Government, but wondered what would have happened if this openness had existed as early as June.

Veștea stated that the months of instability had heightened economic uncertainty and harmed Romania’s image among external partners and rating agencies. He called for responsible decisions and emphasized that local administrations need real support and predictable funding from the Government.
