Siegfried Mureșan rejects the accusations that the intelligence services brought him into politics and describes them as “a lie” repeated in the public sphere

Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Mureșan rejected the accusations that he had been brought into politics by the intelligence services. Invited to B1 TV, the Liberal described the claim as a lie and argued that repeating it in the public sphere does not turn it into the truth.

Mureșan reacted to statements by former presidential adviser Adrian Rădulescu, who had claimed that “the services brought him” into politics. The MEP said that he had been placed on the list for the European Parliament with the support of the president at the time, Traian Băsescu.

According to Mureșan, Băsescu publicly explained that the two had met and worked together at the European level, and later nominated him as a candidate in the European Parliament elections. The prime minister-designate also referred to the former president’s record in foreign policy and national security, considering that these policies had contributed to the increased respect Romania enjoyed in Europe.
