Siegfried Mureșan presented his governing program within the PNL: “Reform must begin with the state”

Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Mureșan presented the main directions of his government program to PNL lawmakers on Tuesday, stating that reform must begin with the state, according to liberal sources.

Among the announced measures are reducing the number of lawmakers, in accordance with the data from the latest census, as well as merging some state agencies. The program also provides for reforming special pensions and eliminating the simultaneous receipt of a pension and a salary in the public sector.

Mureșan spoke about the need for high-performance management in state-owned companies and about redirecting ANAF toward combating major fraud, instead of focusing on small taxpayers.

The prime minister-designate told the liberals that he did not intend to withdraw and that he would attend the vote in Parliament.

He announced on Tuesday that he was beginning presenting the government program in the legislature. The program is set to form the basis for negotiations and the parliamentary procedure for forming the new Government.
