MEP Siegfried Mureșan criticized PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu on Thursday, accusing him of avoiding voting for the government proposed by the PNL two weeks ago in order to secure his participation in the future government formula.
Mureșan claimed that Grindeanu had avoided any discussion with the liberals and had cited several pretexts because he knew that a government in which the PSD could obtain 11 ministerial portfolios was going to be formed. The MEP stated that the Social Democratic ministers would have been appointed “in the image and likeness” of the party leader.
In this context, Siegfried Mureșan said that the objective of the political parties opposing the PSD should be to win the next elections, so that such a governing formula would no longer be possible in Romania.
Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu is expected to submit the government program and list of ministers to Parliament on Thursday, initiating the investiture procedure. The PSD is the only party that will join the Government. The PNL and UDMR have announced that they will vote for the investiture, while USR leader Dominic Fritz said that he would propose that the party’s lawmakers not support the Niculescu Government.
