An analysis conducted by Forvis Mazars highlights how Belgium, Finland, Sweden, and other EU countries address the issue of the gender pay gap, providing valuable examples for Romania. It is expected that Romania will publish a draft law to transpose EU Directive 2023/970 on pay transparency, with a deadline of June 7, 2026. The directive, adopted in May 2023, promotes the principle of 'equal pay for equal work' and imposes reporting obligations and access to salary information. Florina Andra Ilie, Senior Manager at Forvis Mazars, emphasizes that Romania has the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to pay equality and transparency. Although the draft law has not yet been published, the analysis of other countries offers Romania useful insights to avoid common pitfalls and create a balanced framework. Employers are encouraged to review their pay structures and prepare for compliance, viewing pay transparency as an opportunity to build trust and competitiveness.
